A Posterous about Google Wave

Wave is Changing the Newsroom

Leah Betancourt reports via Mashable that, indeed, Google Wave is a game changer.  It isn't just the "link economy" that is changing everything in the newsroom and how it's operated.

She shows us how news papers are changing the way they interact with their readership - probably to the salvaging of their business.

Gina Trinponi keynotes the Web 2.0 Conference with her speech “Making Sense of Google Wave.”

Everything I post here is fundamental and necessary. If I post a video, it needs watching and this is no exception. It isn't boring and it more than enough explains the philosophy and idealisms behind Google Wave.

So, if you have been asking yourself "What is Google Wave?" I will promise you this will help you make sense of Google Wave! You also may enjoy this WSJ article about Gina and Wave entitled " Google Wave (Not for Dummies)."

Google Wave Goes Mobile!

I have seen in at least 20 "waves" how people would say in one way or another, and rightly so, "Google Wave is going to have to be on the mobile phone in some iteration in order to 'take over the world.'"

And for your Google Wave crack habit, I would like to introduce the personal computer of the future: The Nokia N900. IT may not be THE computer of the future, but this is where things are going: Not in your bag, but in your pocket! I know what your saying, but the first time I heard of this phone, about two months ago, I scoffed. I thought, what in the world does Nokia have up there sleeve - another Symbian OS based "candy bar" phone?

I read about six months ago that Nokia had planned on "taking over the world smart phone market" by 2015. Again, I scoffed. What could they possibly come up with that could compete with the iPhone, the then up coming Droid, for the then up and coming HTC Touch Pro 2? I will confess that Nokia does own a massive margin in cell phone market share as #1; however, this is anything from that thing your 70 year old "Deddy" uses, to that "pay as you go" phone your broke cousin owns - and he is always out of minutes.

Anyway you read all of this, the Nokia N900 is a very, very strong phone. Maybe even better than anything that begins with "A" and ends with "e" and has two of the "p" letters and an "L" while imitating the one deminsional figure of a well known and consumed fruit.

And about the video: this is considered Technology Pornography. BTW, I found this at Mashable.

The Link Economy

From the mouth of Jeff Jarv is at Buzz Machine, these words ring very, very true.  In this video, His book (WWGD) is being released in China and Jeff talks about the link economy.  It is almost like a "warning," for a lack of better terms, to the Chinese. (BTW, it is a fantastic book. Buy it, read it, and then re-read it)

This isn't the same economy as it was 20 years ago, 10 years ago or really even five years ago. It is the "link economy."

"Internet is not really a medium as a media tends to think. Nor is a cash register as retailers think. The internet is a connection machine that connects other people and information around the world. If you stand in the way of that you will lose in this internet economy. You must find ways to benefit from connecting internet and information to others." - Jeff Jarvis. This is an approximate quote, as best as I could dictate from his video.

Google Wave Goes Twitter Route with Follow Feature

Google Wave Goes Twitter Route with Follow Feature

From E-Week, we find that Google has taken a cue from Twitter on the "follow" feature! This is great. It was too busy for most users. In fact, sometimes you partake in a Wave and then as it grows you loose interest or move on and don't really care to check it anymore. This will give you the ability to ignore these feeds.

Taking a cue from Twitter, Google Nov. 12 added a following feature in Google Wave that let users shun waves they don't want to see in their in-box, the first of many tools to help users manage waves.

Enjoy the functionalty! There is tons of new features coming over the next few weeks.
